AIME Gala Dinner

Producing clever conference entertainment solutions

Wacky takes AIME at their Conference Gala Dinner!

Ballroom dancers, big costumes and BIG hair were all part of the AIME Conference Gala Dinner.

The Melbourne Convention Bureau’s premiere event adopted a theatrically inspired theme of ‘Strictly Melbourne’. This high stakes industry event for 860 guests created a unique Gala Dinner event experience staged in the car park of Atlantic Receptions. Yes, we said a car park!

Working alongside event producers Peter Jones Special Events, our brief was to create a entertainment concept that would not only engage every guest but get them involved in the feature show.

Well the weather was kind and the event shined. Go Melbourne! The red carpet rolled out to a trumpet fanfare as each guest received a coloured feather boah and took their seats for a Wacky night of entertainment. Nic Yates MC hit the stage and welcomed guests with the biggest hair seen in Melbourne since the 70’s.

After dinner, 8 ballroom dance couples competed for the prestigious Pan Pacific AIME Ballroom Dancing Grand Prix Trophy. Each couple was teamed up with a section of the audience to create an instant cheer squad when they hit the stage in pursuit of the tournament trophy. (The engraving on the trophy probably cost more than the trophy itself but that didn’t deter our competitors, nor the audience enthusiasm for their teams!) The guests quickly formed a bond with their dancers with plenty of selfie snaps and general buzz of excitement filling the air.

The tournament commenced with each section enthusiastically supporting their dancers. As the competition heated up, so did the audience participation with several groups rushing the stage in their support of their couples. Never before has their been a reaction quite so overwhelming to ballroom dancing….on a Wednesday…in a car park.

It was an amazing event to a part of with a very happy client and unique Gala Dinner experience delivered by our team.

Here’s a great review of the event
